K-ARRAY at Venice Biennale 2021: The Garden of Privatised Delights at British Pavillon

From 22 May to 21 November 2021 #karray will be present at the installation of the British Pavilion during the Architecture Biennale in Venice.

In the spirit of Bosch's triptych, the exhibition investigates privatized public space in the UK. In the same way that Bosch represented the Earth as an intermediate zone between Heaven and Hell, privatized public space also stands between two extremes: the utopia of collective ownership before the Enclosures Act, enacted in the eighteenth century, and the dystopia of total privatization.

Spaces of the British Pavilion have been transformed into seven privatized public spaces, re-proposed as inclusive and immersive experiences. Public spaces among the most common in the UK and increasingly threatened today, such asthe youth center, the high street and the pub, are located next to the traditionally inaccessible private garden. All spaces are accompanied by reprogramming and reuse proposals.

Together with Arup and five teams of architects, designers and researchers, The Garden of Privatised Delights of curators Manijeh Verghese and Madeleine Kessler‘s exhibition invites us to examine the threats to public space in the UK and explore the role that #design and architecture can take in supporting a more inclusive future.

For the sound diffusion, #karray collaborated with Arup and British Council by installing a total of eighteen Tornado-KT2, four Lyzard-KZ14 integrated with three Truffle-KTR25, subwoofers that are easy to hide and integrate in particular architectural contexts. Two Domino-KF26 and finally three Kommander-KA02, the smallest and most compact DSP amplifier in the #karray line of amplifiers.
