DreadXP Showcases Some Seriously Spooky News Ahead of Halloween

Happy #halloween season to all ghouls, goblins, and all manner of creatures spooky and scary! Today, DreadXP shares what's in store this fantastically freaky month. Delve into some of the updates and announcements made by the indie horror publisher as of late.

In the October edition of the #dreadxp Dispatch, we'll showcase the #halloween update to The Mortuary Assistant, take a look into the recently released Mirror Forge demo, and tease DreadXP's participation at The MIX.

In case the news crept past you, DreadXP recently announced a thrilling and chilling collaboration with the premiere horror streaming service Shudder in the creation of a game based on the iconic horror anthology Creepshow. In partnership with AMC and Creepshow production company Cartel #entertainment, DreadXP's game will bring the hit series to an interactive format in 2024 across multiple platforms, featuring the twisted talents of several renowned independent video game developers. Additionally, The Mortuary Assistant developer Brian Clarke (DarkStone Digital) will act as Creepshow's creative director, using his knowledge of all things creepy and crawly to spearhead the project.

"I'm extremely excited to be a part of such a fun project. I've always loved Creepshow's format, and the idea of driving the cohesion of multiple perspectives on horror is really compelling to me," said Brian Clarke, Creative Director. "I feel honored to have been asked to be a part of this. I can't wait to jump in and bring the best I can to such a great IP."
Additional details about DreadXP's Creepshow will be revealed in the coming months.

Speaking of Brian Clarke, his overnight viral #gaming sensation The Mortuary Assistant has a special surprise for this #halloween season: clowns (among other scary things).

In the #halloween Update, River Fields Mortuary gets decked out in ooky spooky decorations to celebrate the season. In addition to the decorations, the update includes three new bodies to investigate, two of which are winners from DreadXP's "Be a Body Contest", and the last is a Clown because... Clowns.

There were also other miscellaneous patches and bug fixes in the update, including new haunting events, the options menu being broken up into Settings, Controls, and Game Settings, and control binding between keyboard and controller now having separate menus.
Looking to experience the game for yourself? We welcome you to fill out The Mortuary Assistant Review Request.

A new demo for first-person multi-versal survival horror game Mirror Forge is now available on Steam. Wearing the inspirations of genre-juggernauts such as Silent Hill and Stranger Things on its sleeve, Mirror Forge tasks players with roaming between realities constructed by fear, madness, and machinery. Using mirrors to cross between these realms, players will experience a variety of familiar and bizarre environments — from gloomy, narrow apartments to open towns, ancient houses, and factories.

Mirror Forge's themes and motifs are not for the faint of heart, with the story tackling heavy topics. Being put in the position of Thomas Jackson, a recovering alcoholic with a traumatic past, players must confront his demons and make choices that will affect the outcome of everyone involved. But that's not all; Thomas gets caught up in the aftereffects of a sinister science experiment that has altered reality.
The mysteries behind Mirror Forge get unraveled when the game releases on Steam later this year.

To round off this month's announcements, we would like to share that #dreadxp is participating in this year's The MIX Next showcase to reveal two new titles. Beginning with the first event hosted at IGN's offices in 2012, The MIX has featured award-winning games from developers around the world for all platforms and channels.
We'll leave what's to be revealed a surprise, but let's just say...we hope you're feeling somewhat adventurous.
