December program | Opening Day IMPASSE RONSIN | On view KATJA AUFLEGER

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

We are still open and are looking forward to welcoming you at the end of the year with two new special exhibitions. Until 14 March, Berlin-based artist Katja

Aufleger presents breakable sculptures, hazardous chemicals and video works in her first solo exhibition in Switzerland.

From 15 December onwards, you will have the opportunity to visit our exhibition highlight «Impasse Ronsin. Murder, Love, and Art in the Heart of Paris».

As the title suggests, it is the first wide ranging exhibition with focus on the legendary dead end street called Impasse Ronsin in Paris' Montparnasse quarter which served over 100 years as a studio and home for about 50 artists and which made numerous headlines.

If you are looking for Christmas presents, get some inspiration at our online shop or directly on site. Also this year, we are open for you during the holidays. We wish you despite everything a pleasant Advent season, stay safe.

ON VIEW | KATJA AUFLEGER. GONE

The artist Katja Aufleger develops with transparent materials such as glass, plastic and coloured liquids, but also immaterial components like sound and movement fragile installations and films. At first glance, the objects seem familiar and appealing, but on closer inspection it becomes clear that the works are inhabited by uncertain or even dangerous tensions. Using this kind of ambivalences the artist criticises institutions and questions power structures and systems.

OPENING DAY | TUESDAY, 15 DECEMBER 2020, 11 AM-8 PM

Museum Tinguely cordially invites you to the Opening Day of the exhibition «Impasse Ronsin. Murder, Love, and Art in the Heart of Paris» from 11 am to 8 pm. The entrance is free.

In the midst of Paris’s Montparnasse district, Impasse Ronsin was a unique artists’ colony.

For more than a century, it was a place of art, contemplation, conversation, celebration, innovation, creation and destruction, home to a broad range of diverse artistic identities that went far beyond the avant-garde, with artists including Constantin Brâncuși, Max Ernst, Marta Minujín, Eva Aeppli, Niki de Saint Phalle, Larry Rivers as well as André Almo Del Debbio or Alfred Laliberté.

The layout of the exhibition’s sequence of studio spaces is based on the original street plan, surprising visitors with a previously unseen mix of artworks and stories that brings Paris to life as a melting pot and cosmopolitan city of art.
